Pickaway SWCD Announces new District Administrator
Pickaway Soil and Water Conservation District is pleased to announce Brad Hughes as the new District Administrator. Brad first joined the Pickaway SWCD team three years ago, and has since become an integral member of the team. He has extensive experience as a District Ag Technician and has been able to use this background to build relationships between the District and the Pickaway County agricultural community.
In his new role as District Administrator, Brad is dedicated to strengthening community relationships, fostering strategic partnerships, and advancing the District’s mission for future generations. Brad brings a collaborative spirit and forward-thinking leadership to his role, shaped in part by his participation in the 2025 Pickaway Leadership Fellows Program.
Outside of work, Brad finds joy in hiking, gardening, and exploring new places. His greatest passion, however, is spending quality time with his wife, children, and extended family—creating lasting memories and cherishing the moments that matter most.

Pickaway Soil and Water Conservation District to offer new scholarship in memory of Rob Skidmore
September 2, 2025
Circleville, OH – The Pickaway Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is honored to announce the establishment of a new scholarship to be offered beginning in Spring 2026 in memory of Rob Skidmore, a longtime conservation advocate and retired employee of the Pickaway SWCD and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).
Rob Skidmore dedicated his career to advancing conservation efforts and supporting the agricultural community in Pickaway County. His legacy of service, stewardship, and education left a lasting impact on countless colleagues, landowners, and students throughout the region.
Earlier this summer, Rob passed away, and in his memory, his family and friends generously donated to the Pickaway SWCD’s education fund to support the creation of this scholarship. Their contributions reflect Rob’s enduring commitment to conservation education and his passion for inspiring future generations.
“We are incredibly grateful to Rob’s family and friends for helping us honor his life and legacy in such a meaningful way,” said Tawn Seimer, District Administrator at Pickaway SWCD. “This scholarship will continue Rob’s work by supporting students who share his dedication to conservation and natural resource management.”
Details regarding scholarship criteria, application deadlines, and award amounts will be announced in early 2026. The scholarship will be open to students pursuing post-secondary education in agriculture, natural resources, environmental science, or related fields.
For more information about the upcoming scholarship or to contribute to the education fund in Rob’s memory, please contact Pickaway SWCD at 740-477-1693 or visit pickawayswcd.org/scholarships.

Report Wildlife Sightings
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife is continually seeking reports of several different wildlife species within Ohio. Wildlife species that can be reported anytime are gray foxes, river otters, black bears, and other furbearers, including fishers, badgers, weasels, and bobcats, as well as other wildlife species found on the wildlife reporting system webpage.
These reports assist wildlife biologists and the Ohio Division of Wildlife in tracking wildlife populations.
Reports can be submitted to the Wildlife Reporting System at wildohio.gov and on the HuntFish OH mobile app.
Please contact your County Wildlife Officer to submit river otter and gray fox carcasses. Submitted carcasses can be from harvests or roadkill, although it is not permitted to collect roadkill carcasses. One can report the location of roadkill to their local wildlife officer. Pickaway's officer is Josh Elster (614-203-3406).
More information on individual wildlife species in Ohio can be found at the Ohio Division of Wildlife online Species Guide.
