The Pickaway SWCD, through a no-interest loan program, is able to offer landowners in Pickaway County the opportunity to rent various pieces of conservation equipment.

Equipment available to rent include the:  John Deere 1590 No-Till Drill, Great Plains end wheel No-Till Drill, and Finn Straw Crimper.

The drills can be used to plant soybeans, wheat, alfalfa, cool and warm season grasses, and small grains. The Crimper is used to anchor straw in place.

Rental Equipment:

JOHN DEERE 1590 No-Till Drill: Transport width 10' 6"; working width 10'; opener spacing 7 1/2"; gross weight 6430 lb.; grain box capacity 35 bushel; grass seed box capacity 3 bushel. 100 horsepower tractor needed in field.

Rental is $9.00 per acre. Minimum charge is $50.00

GREAT PLAINS end wheel No-Till Drill: Transport width 12' 6"; working width 10'; opener spacing 7 1/2"; standard grain seed box capacity 13 bushel, native grass seed box capacity 12 bushel and fine grass seed box attachment; gross weight 4350 lb.; 75 horsepower tractor needed in field.

Rental is $9.00 per acre. Minimum charge is $50.00

FINN STRAW CRIMPER: The crimper is used to anchor straw or hay mulch to the soil to avoid loss of mulch cover from blowing or washing away. Mulching provides excellent protection for seeds and helps growth by retaining moisture. Transport and crimping width 8'; smaller type tractor needed in field.

Rental is $100.00 per day. Minimum charge is $100.00

NOTE: There is a $100.00 cleaning charge if the seed boxes have not been cleaned and the equipment has not been generally cleaned (trash and dirt not removed from coulters, etc.). A "No-Till Drill Agreement" form will need to be filled out at and returned to the office for our records. (Click on no-till agreement to open document and print.)

We also loan out Dibble Bars (with deposit) and the district sells tile probes, topographic maps, and survey flags.
